Grooming Tips

Professional grooming is essential for every model. Arriving well-prepared ensures you look your best, photograph beautifully, and allows the stylists, makeup artists, and photographers to do their jobs without distraction.

Maintaining your appearance not only shows respect for the team but also makes you versatile and camera-ready for any assignment. Here are some fundamental model grooming tips to follow:

Hair

Keep hair clean, healthy, and trimmed; avoid excessive heat styling. Arrive with your natural texture and styling unless told otherwise.

Men’s facial hair should be clean shaven or trimmed beard.

Women’s legs and underarms should be clean shaven.

Notify your agent if your hair style has changed from your most recent portfolio photos.

Skin

Maintain a consistent skincare routine and always remove makeup before bed.

Exfoliate and stay moisturized; pay special attention to hands, feet, elbows.

Women’s legs and underarms should be clean shaven.

For artificial sprays and lotions, be sure that it is even, especially around fingers, hands, knees, and ankles. Make sure color is a natural tan and not orange.

For a real tan, avoid noticeable tan lines and avoid burning. SPF and sun protection recommended, especially right before a booking.

Notify your agent of any visible tattoos.

Cosmetics

Makeup should be natural and clean look. Sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer with light blush, mascara, filled in brows, and a neutral lip color is preferred when asked to come makeup ready.

Lashes should be natural length, notify booking agent of lash extensions.

Nail polish should be a nude / neutral color and a natural length.

Wellness

Models are sometimes expected to perform physical activities or be on their feet for long periods of time. A comprehensive wellness plan is vital in being prepared for a variety of jobs.

Consistency is key in staying fit and agile. Rotate between cardio, strength, and flexibility workouts for a well-rounded exercise routine.

Prioritize sleep to feel well rested and look refreshed for your shoots.

Drink plenty of water and consume nourishing foods such as lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
